Abby Jensen just turned sixteen, but nothing is going the way she planned. Her family embarrasses her; her house is suddenly infested with so many wasps that it could take a full year to get rid of them; and she has to ride the bus in her pajamas. The only thing she managed to save from the wasps was her list of 16 wishes that she has written throughout her life to come true on the day she turns 16. Everything goes wrong, however, when she wishes that people treated her like a grown-up: she turns into a grown woman. The rest of the movie follows Abigail as she tries to find a way to be 16 again.
There isn't much to say about this film. It's a typical made-for-TV Disney movie. One of Disney's current teenage actors / actresses stars in the movie surrounded by other actors / actresses who may or may not appear in a Disney show / movie of their own one day. Plot wise there are not a lot of surprises: main character gets in some sort of trouble, they suffer as they try to fix the problem, they learn a huge life lesson, and then everyone lives happily ever after. Huzzah.
I will say, however, that Debby Ryan does as good of a performance as she does in any other show / movie for Disney. She's cute, young, and it works out pretty well for her. After all she received a prominent role in Suite Life on Deck with Dylan and Cole Sprouse; she starred in another Disney film that had nothing to do with Suite Life called Radio Rebel; she is the main / title character in Jessie; and, later this year, she will be voicing Spike in Tinkerbell: Secret of the Wings.
What can I say? She is currently reigning as the queen of Disney royalty.
At least it was a cute movie.
